iCare Direct Primary Care
"Human Connection. Uncompromised Care."
Frequently Asked Questions About Membership, Billing & Telehealth
Does iCare accept my insurance?
iCare operates outside the insurance system entirely. Members pay a flat monthly fee for direct access to primary care; you may still want a high-deductible or catastrophic insurance plan for hospitalizations, specialists, and emergencies, which iCare membership does not cover. Your doctor can also order your medication, imagine studies or labs under your insurance ( or you can choose to pay out of pocket using low cost options we recommend)
Can I use telehealth visits as part of my membership?
Yes. Every membership includes telehealth access, so you can message or video-call your physician for many non-urgent concerns without coming into the office.
What's included in the monthly membership fee?
Your fee covers unlimited primary care contacts (text, phone, video , in-person visits ), direct physician messaging, preventive screenings, and chronic disease management — with no copays, no surprise bills, and no per-visit charges.
Is there a contract or long-term commitment?
Membership is month-to-month with no long-term lock-in. You can cancel anytime with 30 days' notice, though most members stay because of the direct access and transparent pricing.
How quickly can I get an appointment?
Most members are seen within 24 to 48 hours, and many same-day or same-week visits are available because our physician panel size is kept intentionally small. Can I still use my health insurance, Medicare, or HSA/FSA?
You can—and should—keep your health insurance or Medicare to cover unexpected major medical events, emergency room visits, hospitalizations, and specialist care. Regarding HSAs and FSAs, many patients use their Health Savings Accounts or Flexible Spending Accounts to pay for their DPC membership fees or unbundled cash-pay lab work and procedures.
What is included in the monthly membership fee?
Your flat monthly membership covers unlimited access ( text, phone, video, in-person)to your physician, including:
- Comprehensive annual physicals and wellness exams
- Acute sick visits and minor injury evaluations
- Management of chronic conditions (hypertension, diabetes, etc.)
- Telehealth, text, and email access for convenient communication
- Basic in-office procedures and wholesale pricing on routine lab tests and medications
4. What happens if I need a specialist, imaging, or hospital care?
While we manage roughly 80% to 90% of your health needs directly in our office, there are times when you will need a specialist, advanced imaging (like an MRI), or hospital services. When that happens, your physician can coordinates non urgent the referral directly, helping you navigate to the highest-quality, most transparently priced providers and facilities in the area.
What happens if I need you on nights, weekends, or holidays?
- Urgent Concerns, Holidays & Weekends: For acute issues that arise after hours (such as a sudden allergic reaction, minor injury, or acute illness), members can reach out via direct phone, text, or secure messaging and our team will try to contact you the very next business day, or if you cannot wait, you may choose to use an urgent care center in your own cost.
- True Emergencies: In the event of a life-threatening emergency (such as chest pain, severe shortness of breath, or major trauma), patients should always call 911 or head to the nearest emergency room first, and notify your physician afterward so we can coordinate your follow-up care.
Do you see children and whole families, or just adults?
Yes! Because DPC functions like a modern family medicine practice, we care for patients of 12 year and older. ( You can contact us if you join as a family and have kids 10-12 years old )
Can my employer pay for my DPC membership?
Absolutely. A growing number of local businesses and employers offer DPC memberships as an employee wellness benefit or reimburse membership fees through a Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) or Health Savings Account (HSA). If you are a business owner or want to pitch DPC to your HR department, we can provide direct corporate partnership details.
What if I travel frequently or am away from home?
One of the great benefits of DPC is digital portability. If you are traveling for work or vacation and experience an acute issue (such as a sinus infection, minor rash, or medication question), your physician is just a phone call, text, or video visit away. We can diagnose, advise, and call in prescriptions to a local pharmacy wherever you are in the country.
How do you handle vaccinations and immunizations?
Pharmacy Coordination: For certain specialized or pediatric immunizations, we can write prescriptions or orders directing you to a local pharmacy or health clinic where your insurance can cover the cost of the vaccine itself. We generally DO NOT do vaccination in our office(s) at this time.
